ALVAREZ PLAGARO

Alfredo Álvarez Plágaro. Painter

Born in Vitoria (Spain) in 1960 and now lives and works in Madrid. In 1985 He obtained a Masters of Arts from the Department of Painting of the Bilbao Fine Arts University.

His work explores the meaning and significance of the pictorial act repetition. In the latest eighties, Álvarez Plágaro creates his "Identical Paintings" that he has been developing in a linear way until now following one personal postulate: ¨The most important is not what it is, but the that what it is, is repeatedly.¨ The "Identical Paintings" are series of repeated pictures developed jointly and with variable installation. They are, and simultaneously they are not, unique works.

Álvarez Plágaro has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions, and also in International Fairs. The prizes awarded and the presence of his pictures in public and privated collections all around the world guarantee his work.
